History

The Sd.Kfz. 250/1 Ausf. A (Special Purpose Vehicle 250/1 Version A) was a light armored half-track used by the German Wehrmacht during World War II. It was part of the Sd.Kfz. 250 vehicle family and was characterized in the Ausf. A version by its sloped armor plates, offering additional protection against enemy fire.

The vehicle was primarily used for transporting small infantry groups, reconnaissance missions, or as a towing vehicle for light artillery. It could carry two crew members and up to four infantrymen. Equipped with a Maybach HL 42 TRKM engine, it achieved a top speed of about 60 km/h. Its armament usually consisted of one or two MG 34 or MG 42 machine guns, effective against enemy infantry and lightly armored vehicles.

Its light weight, tracks for off-road terrain, and relatively high mobility made the Sd.Kfz. 250/1 a valuable asset to German forces, particularly in armored reconnaissance and mechanized infantry divisions.
