We are proud to present another version of our highly detailed 1:35 scale plastic model kit: the Kurierwagen Typ 181 „Bluelight Version“.
From 1969 onwards, the Bundeswehr procured the VW Type 181 as a rugged and economical vehicle for courier, liaison and driver-training duties. Thanks to its simple construction, proven Volkswagen technology and good off-road capability, more than 15,000 vehicles were acquired, with many remaining in service into the 1990s.
For specialised duties, the Type 181 was also converted into radio and command vehicles. Versions used by the Feldjäger, police, Bundesgrenzschutz and fire services were equipped with blue beacons and other mission-specific equipment.
Our kit includes a fully detailed interior and can be built with the doors and front hood either open or closed. Clear parts, pre-cut masking stickers and highly detailed 3D-printed wheels are included. A 3D-printed radio set with receiver makes it possible to recreate the specialised communications vehicle in excellent detail.
The finely printed decal sheet provides markings for four different vehicles:
- Bundeswehr, Lehrkompanie der Schule für Feldjäger, Sonthofen, early 1970s
- Führungsfahrzeug Hundertschaftsführer, 5. Grenzschutzabteilung, 1. Hundertschaft, Bundesgrenzschutz, Goslar, 1972
- III. Landesbereitschaftspolizei Niedersachsen, Gorleben, 1980
- Florian Bremen 75/72-02, Freiwillige Feuerwehr Bremen, Bremen-Blumenthal, 1982
We are also announcing the Kurierwagen Typ 181 „Standard“ – DW35044, which includes military and civilian marking options for vehicles used in Germany and the Netherlands.
The Kurierwagen Typ 181 „Bluelight Version“ – DW35045 is currently scheduled for release around the end of October 2026.
