We are pleased to announce our latest 1:35 scale plastic model kit: the Kurierwagen Typ 181 „Standard“.
The VW Type 181 was a rugged and versatile vehicle used by the Bundeswehr for courier, liaison and driver-training duties. Its straightforward construction, excellent reliability and distinctive appearance made it a familiar sight within the German armed forces for several decades. The vehicle was also operated by the Dutch Forces and found its way into civilian use.
Our highly detailed kit offers numerous possibilities for creating an individual model. The doors and front hood can be built either open or closed, while the fully detailed crew compartment provides an authentic view of the vehicle’s characteristic interior.
Clear parts and highly detailed 3D-printed components for the wheels and folded canvas roof are included. Pre-cut masking stickers for the clear parts make painting easier, while the finely printed decal sheet provides markings for four different vehicles:
- Bundeswehr, Panzerbataillon 33, Luttmersen, 1970s
- Civilian use, Netherlands, 1970s/1980s
- Bundeswehr, 1./Panzerartilleriebataillon 25, Braunschweig, 1991
- Dutch Forces, Netherlands, 1970s to early 1980s
We are also announcing the specialised Kurierwagen Typ 181 „Bluelight
Version“ – DW35045, featuring markings and equipment for military police, border guard, police and fire-service vehicles.
The Kurierwagen Typ 181 „Standard“ – DW35044 is expected to begin shipping around the end of October 2026.
